Kelly Slater at the Surfers Against Suicide event

"The Komunity Projects" program provides a path of opportunity to lend support and awareness for impactful grass roots projects that reflect Kelly’s energy and passion toward meaningful understanding of change for good.

Surfers Against Suicide (SAS)

Created by Komunity Project, Surfers Against Suicide (SAS) operates within the international surfing community to raise and distribute funds directly in support of organizations that contribute to a reduction in death by suicide by promoting health and resilience amongst young people.

Kelly Slater, founder of Komunity Project and 11-time ASP World Champion said, “It’s great to have everyone on board for this event and I’d like to thank those involved in making it happen.

“Hopefully we can raise some money to help reduce the individual and social cost of suicide amongst young people and also promote the importance of a healthy lifestyle, particularly through surfing and sport.”

Earlier this year in April, the event drew thousands to the beaches of Manly including Kelly himself and former ASP World Champions Mark Occhilupo and Tom Carroll. Along with 3 fin thruster originator Simon Anderson, the four surf legends joined celebrities and Waratah Rugby Union players in a friendly competition as the bustling crowd cheered on in support.
